A few months ago, I decided to get the new iPhone 3G S. Having upgraded to it from the original iPhone 2G, you can really see the difference in performance in applications between the two phones. Some of the games which didn’t run too well on the old iPhone work really well on the new one. I have around 150 apps and my top 10 favourite apps are:
- Mobile Allowance – This was one of the first apps that I bought and I have been using it ever since. Its a great little app that shows you how much of your contracts allowance you have used. It gets updated regularly and its just a really good useful app.
- Midomi SoundHound – I find it really annoying when I hear a song on the radio and I don’t know what it is. I keep this app on my first page of apps so that when I’m driving I can just tap it and get the name of the song.
- Grocery Gadget – Ok, you could just keep your shopping list in notes, but where’s the fun in that. This shopping cart app has some really great features and I use it on a weekly basis.
- Remote – This little app allows you to control your iTunes library from your iPhone. Simple but brilliant!
- Convertbot – A great app with a really clean UI for converting different measurements.
- Pool – This one is just a little bit of fun and is great for passing time when you are just waiting around.
- Facebook – As a daily user of Facebook, it is really great having access to it via this little app.
- Tweetie – My Twitter client of choice
- Pocket God – Another little bit of fun. There are frequent updates which keep me amused when I feel like playing it.
- Vanilla Surf – A great alternative browser to safari, highly configurable with lots of nice features.
- LogMeIn Ignition – This is a great little remote desktop client (allows you to remote desktop into PC’s with LogMeIn installed). I have to admit that I have never really used this in a real situation, but it is still one of the coolest apps on my iPhone 🙂
- Five Dice – Yet another little time waster 🙂
- MiniGore – Hmm, and another 🙂 In this one, you just run around shooting random black blobs. It is surprisingly fun though.
- MyWeather – Gets the weather in your area by using iPhones GPS position.
If you know of any cool apps that I haven’t listed, let me know in the comments and I will check them out!
Update: Here are a few more applications suggested by you!
- Josh suggested AroundMe and WunderRadio. AroundMe takes your current GPS position and shows you useful places near you, WunderRadio is a great little app that allows you to listen to hundreds of internet radio stations!

Hi there!
Great post!
I think that AroundMe and WunderRadio are both great apps!
AroundMe uses your location to tell you where things are – very useful!
WunderRadio is just a radio app, I use it for radio1!
